Are Your Clients' Cutting Back?

The answer every salon owner, manager, stylist and nail tech seems to have to the question" How's Business?" is................
I have not lost any customers, I just see them less often!
It is true that the economy is showing some improvement. However consumers are still watching every Penny. Instead of 6 week hair cuts, it is 8 to 10 weeks. Instead of nails every week, it is 2 to 3 weeks. Color is waiting an extra 3 weeks and sometimes they try to do it themselves. What can you do?
  • Be certain to book an appoinment before the client leaves. This will be easier to do with the holiday season coming.
  • Review the client's records and try to add a service that they have not received before. Start with color, if they are not a color client. Add nails, even polish touch up, if they have not had nails done before.
  • Consider a 5 + 1 free on a service if done within 6 months or 6 weeks for nails. This may bring the client from 6 week cut and color to 4 week cut and color. Give them a card to keep track and make all 6 dates at once with a special something for the free service.
